- ᴹQ. lumenyáre n. “*history”
-
An untranslated word in the The Etymologies of the 1930s that combined ᴹQ. lúme “time” and ᴹQ. nyáre “tale” (Ety/NAR²), so probably meaning something like “*history”. In The Etymologies as published in The Lost Road Christopher Tolkien gave it as lumenyáre (LR/374), but Carl Hostetter and Patrick Wynne said that the actual form was lumennyáre in their Addenda and Corrigenda to the Etymologies, though they added that the double nn was probably a slip (VT45/36). Compare ᴹQ. lúmeqenta “history” (Ety/LU).

- Q. quentasta n. “historical account”
-
A word for a “historical account” in notes associated with the Quendi and Eldar essay from 1959-60, a combination of quenta “story” and the collective suffix -sta (VT39/16). It was use “of any particular arrangement (by some author) of a series of records or evidences into a given historical account”. As an example, Tolkien said that “Ingoldo’s History of the Noldor” would be Noldo-quentasta Ingoldova.
