An adjective for “greedy” in The Etymologies under the root ᴹ√MIL-IK (Ety/MIL-IK).

ᴹQ. milme n. “greed, desire”

A noun in The Etymologies glossed “desire, greed” under the root ᴹ√MIL-IK (Ety/MIL-IK).

N. melch adh. “greedy”

An adjective for “greedy” in The Etymologies under the root ᴹ√MIL-IK (Ety/MIL-IK).

Conceptual Development: The Early Noldorin Word-lists of the 1920s had ᴱN. gag “greedy”, and nouns ᴱN. gagros or ᴱN. gagrosaith “greed” (PE13/143).

11.56 to Steal

ᴱQ. pil- v. “to steal, *rob”

A verb appearing as ᴱQ. pili- “steal” in the Qenya Lexicon of the 1910s under the early root ᴱ√PILI¹ “rob” (QL/74).

Neo-Quenya: I would retain ᴺQ. pil- “to steal, *rob” for purposes of Neo-Quenya as the best of the attested verbs meaning “steal”. For example, this verb was used in Helge Fauskanger’s Neo-Quenya New Testament (NQNT).

11.57 Thief

Q. arpo n. “seizer, thief”

A noun in 1970 green-ink revisions to Outline of Phonology (OP2) derived from ✶arp(h)ō “seizer, thief” based on the root √RAPH “seize, grab” (PE19/89).

ᴱQ. pilu n. “thief, robber”

A noun appearing as ᴱQ. pilu “thief, robber” in the Qenya Lexicon of the 1910s under the early root ᴱ√PILI¹ “rob”, along with a longer variant pilmo (pilmu-) (QL/74).

Neo-Quenya: Since I retain ᴺQ. pil- “to steal, *rob” for purposes of Neo-Quenya, I would retain ᴺQ. pilu “thief, robber” as well. For example, this noun was used in Helge Fauskanger’s Neo-Quenya New Testament (NQNT). A later noun of similar meaning is Q. arpo “seizer, thief”.
